Dental crowns can give your natural teeth a longer shelf life and are helpful in a variety of situations such as the restoration of a chipped or broken tooth.
Crowns are special caps that cover a tooth to restore its chewing surface and protect it from further damage. We offer crowns in full porcelain or porcelain bonded to a precious metal alloy, which both blend in seamlessly with the rest of your natural teeth.
Your dentist will start by reshaping your natural tooth under a local anaesthetic to prepare it for the crown fitting. They will then take an impression and send it off to a laboratory to have your custom crown produced. In the meantime, you will be fitted with a temporary crown. At a follow-up appointment, your dentist will fit your new crown on your tooth and fix it into place.
Crowns are often used in conjunction with other restorative treatments. Your dentist will sometimes recommend a crown after a root canal treatment or a large filling to prevent the tooth from breaking. With the help of our dental team, your smile can be restored with this simple dental procedure.
