Dentists typically diagnose orthodontic issues during childhood, with treatment ideally taking place while the jaw is still developing, usually between the ages of 7 and 13. However, orthodontic treatment is also prevalent among adults.
Orthodontic treatments typically involve braces. However, many patients envision the conventional metal “train-track” braces and the impact these might have on their self-image, especially in a professional environment.
We are delighted to offer our patients Invisalign™ a modern and almost invisible alternative to traditional metal braces. This treatment system utilises a series of clear, removable aligners to gently straighten the teeth over time.
We use CliniCheck, a computer program that provides the patient with a visual representation of the aesthetic improvements they can expect from their treatment.
Your dentist will determine your prescription and send it to the Invisalign™ laboratory, where your bespoke clear aligners are created.
Once you receive your set of aligners, you will wear the first one 20-22 hours a day for two weeks. After two weeks, you will switch to the next in the series and repeat the process.
Following Invisalign™ treatment, you will need to wear an equally discreet removable retainer to ensure the soft ligaments in your mouth do not pull your teeth back into a misaligned position.
At Wickersley Dental Practice we aim to provide you will all of the information you will need at your first consultation.
We will also check that dental implants are suitable for you and determine the right treatment to meet your needs.
